ALC889A, X64, Speaker Fill = Rear Speakers Distorted
Jun 28, 2008Because of the recent fiasco with Creative / Daniel K the straw has broken the camels back and I am trying real hard to not use my X-Fi XtremeGamer, and never buy Creative again. Although I didn't personally have many issues with it (and Alchemy is great for Vista...wish there was one for everyone) I don't want to spend my life wondering what will happen next with my drivers..
I have a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R rev 1.0. This board has the Realtek ALC889A chip and when I first started using it in XP I was so very impressed with both the quality and the features. Specifically speaker fill. I love upmixing my music to 5.1 and at the time I was having weird issues with Creatives own expansion setting so I happily used my onboard for quite a while.
Then I decided to upgrade to Vista and noticed immediately that things were not working the way they had on XP.. DirectSound removal aside, I couldn't even get music to upmix properly.. So here I am again, trying to get by without my X-Fi and I've installed the latest drivers from Realtek's web site for Vista x64........
Realtek HD Audio 5.1 Speaker Rear Pair Is Grayed Out
Jan 28, 2010i just bought LOGITECH x-530 5.1 Speaker system. when i go to 'Realtek HD Audio manager' and choose '5.1 speaker' the 'rear pair' is grayed out! Here is a picture; if i change it to 7.1. then the 'rear pair' will appear and i will be able to preform the test and hear sound... B-U-T ---> when i will play movies.. (divx, mkx, bluray.. ect'...) i don't hear the people talking.. it's like the wrong sound configuration information goes to the speakers. it will seem the people talking coms from the sub-woofer.. and again really really dim... .+ the rear speakers will work but very low (even when i put it on full volume) . any idea how to set up correctly the sound ? so even if i am on 7.1. the sound will go to the speakers as 5.1 and send the right information to each speaker?
Sound Output: Speaker Configuration
Jul 19, 2008I got an ASUS M50SV with integrated Realtek HD ALC888S audio and the problem is in the speaker configuration, it only shows stereo. i cannot change it because its grayed out. The laptop also has S/PDIF output but the Realtek HD Audio Manager doesnt recognize it.
Recognise Headphone And Speaker As Different Output Devices
Dec 30, 2008I want to do is have my headphone to have a different audio stream than my speakers so that I can talk to a friend through my headset and receive the voice audio, but to also have through my speakers sound from other programs. Basically I just want the system to recognise the speaker and my headphone as different output devices instead of tieing them together. The software I'm using is Realtek Audio Manager and it hasn't been helpful whatsoever, I've had two computers and I've had the same problem with them both.
No Audio Output Device Installed: Speaker Icon In The Lower Right Has A Red X
Mar 23, 2008I just added more memory to my Dell Insperion 530. Which is very simple. But now the speaker icon in the lower right has a red X. When I put the arrow on it I get the following: 'No Audio Output Device is Installed'.
Does Not Have DVI Input It Just Has The SVGA Input For A Monitor
Aug 17, 2008My mobo does not have a DVI input it just has the SVGA input for a monitor. Would I see a difference weather it be big or small useing a SVGA to DVI adapter? Would it be worth my spending that $25.00 for the adapter.

Not Working Stereo Mix
Feb 16, 2009I have a problem were I cant seem to get stereo mix I have tried everything but nothing works? here is the picture of my recording devices
No Mic Through Stereo Mix Or Speakers!
Jun 12, 2008In previous OS I've pluged in my mic and go 'test test' and I would hear myself, in real time, through the speakers. Vista does not do this apparetnly To make matters worse, the mic will not feed through the stereo mix (because it wont come through the speakers?). I definetly have all this enabled, all hidden things revealed. I've rolled back teh drivers for the sound card, updated them, updated them again, shut down, restarted, tried a million different settings and STILL no mic for stereo mix or speakers. I can see the green bars going when I speak, and it works in programs like skype.
But this stereo mix is a big problem. I similcast an internet radio and TV show. In order to broadcast the audio from the music videos I play on the TV show over the Shoutcast radio server, I need stereo mix. However, I also need full use of my mic because a tv and radio show without a mic is pretty boring. Has ANYONE found a solution to this problem or should I just downgrade to XP, which runs my audio settings without hassle. I have Vista home premium 32bit on a toshiba laptop with a realtek high def audio soundcard. I am trying to use front jack mic but there is also a built in mic.
Rear Speakers Not Playing Preperly
Mar 23, 2008in xp all speakers would play at an equal volume and with equal clarity. in vista only the front speakers with full volume, depth and clarity. the rear speakers arent playing preperly. when i uncheck 'speaker fill' they wont play at all. when i play the test music in realtek control panel all play correctly but not with windows media player.
Microphone Not Working In Front Or Rear Panel
Aug 4, 2008I have a really annoying issue with Vista Ultimate SP1.
My PC specs are as follows:
Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40 Ghz
Nvidia 680i SLI PCI-E
2x Geforce 6800 GS
HD Realtek Audio (onboard)
4.0 GB RAM
My issue is that I can't get any non-USB microphone to be picked up on any input, front or rear panel. I have installed the newest Realtek Audio HD drivers (2.00) and just recently did a fresh install of Vista with SP1 thinking that that would solve the issue. My system is fully up to date according to Windows Update.
However, though the sound manager realizes when I plug in a microphone, there is absolutely no level of input no matter how much I yell into it. I have two separate microphones (both working on other computers i.e my laptop's Vista install) which are not picked up at all.
I have cross checked and triple checked that the sound settings are all unmuted and corresponding within Realtek's sound manager as well as Vista's. This solves nothing. There is still no recognition of a working mic.
I am totally stumped as the microphone used to work on Vista when I had the automatic HD Audio Driver installed from Microsoft and then suddenly stopped. However, I have since tried to revert to the old driver but to no avail.
Front + Rear Panel Sound In Vista
Jul 25, 2007I have an expensive motherboard (ASUS P5N32-SLI SE Deluxe) with 5.1 sound (Realtek AC'97) IO on the back panel and an internal 10 pin (with 2 pins missing) AC'97 header to which I should be able to attach the AC'97 lead from my case's front panel headphone + mic sockets.
However, when I plug in the internal header, I lose the front left and right speakers from my 5.1 back panel socket (without getting it out the front socket either). I assume this is something to do with the way vista has only one 'speakers' thing in control panel's 'sound' thing and how it detects if things are unplugged. The only way I have been able to get the back panel sound back has been to unplug the front panel from the internal IO header.
Does anyone know how to fix this so that I can use both the front panel (headphones) and back panel (speakers) without turning my computer off to attach a lead to the motherboard?
Rear Panel HD Audio Connector Required
Sep 16, 2008I've searched for a similar problem in other threads to no avail, so here goes, I recently bought an MSI K9A2GM-FIH AMD 780G AM2+ Motherboard and am running Vista Home Premium 32bit os, I need to find a suitable rear panel connector to take the HiDef Audio from the on-board header to my AV amp. There was nothing supplied in the box and the reseller is less than helpful, any ideas where I can get an back panel connector/adapter to give me either co-ax or optical audio out from the MB?
Speaker Echo
May 11, 2009I have a brand new Gateway GT5694 desktop computer, using Windows Home Premium (x64). I have a set of Altec Lansing speakers which I've plugged into it, which worked very well with my previous XP computer. There's an echo in the audio output that's so bad that speech is barely intelligible. There's also mild distortion in music. Headsets work fine when I switch to those; no echo at all. Speakers consist of a small left and small right
speaker, and a sub-woofer. They're powered speakers. The speakers' green input plug (only one) is plugged into the green, speaker output on the computer. I've tried all the other 3.5mm outputs, and none of the other outputs work at all insofar as producing sound. I've tried different settings in the Control Panel (Manage Audio Devices).
Webcam Speaker Disabled
Jun 7, 2008In order to use another microphone, I disabled the webcam microphone. Now the icon for the webcam mike does not appear, in the recording devices. How do I reenable the webcam microphone?
Missing Speaker Icon
May 29, 2009The speaker icon has disappeared (lower right). I have no control of the volume and it is set to zero. I need volume control - machine is useless to me without it. How do I get it back and prevent it from disappearing again?
Logitech Z-10 Speaker: How Work?
Jun 22, 2009I was given a pair of Logitech Z-10 USB Speakers. I'm running Vista 64. I've never seen a USB speaker system....Not sure how they work. Will I have problems with these speakers? Will they use my sound card? Do they put a heavier load on the CPU than a sound card? I've downloaded the latest 64bit drivers, but they are dated '07, so I'm not sure if I want to try these.
No Sound Come Through Speaker Or Headphones
May 18, 2009No sound will come through the speaker or headphones in Vista, I checked the drivers in control panel's device manager utility. Does anybody know what could be blocking the signal?

Dont Listen Any Sound From Speaker
Sep 4, 2008I have on-board sound chipset by Realtek ALC888, I installed The driver from the Motherboard cd (vista drivers cd) and no sound, i tried to get the latest versions from this forum and still the same problem, I tried even plugging the cable in different ports in the back panel and still its a mute system ! Everything is fine on XP, i don't know what to do, Should i get a new sound card or new speakers
Speaker Humming With USB Mouse Connected
Oct 15, 2009My speaker starts humming when i plug the mouse into the front panel USB port. I have 2 front panel USB. The humming more prominent with the mouse plugged to one of them. There is no humming when connected to back ports. There is no humming when a pen drive is connected to either of the front ports! I tried another mouse on the front and that causes humming too. The front panel is a single PCB with 2 USB and the headphone and mic jacks (AC97). My speakers are connected on the rear. Probably some irreparable problem on the front panel PCB, but if someone has experienced a similar problem and solved it

Desktop Speaker Produces Single Beep
Mar 23, 2008For some odd reason now when I single click an item in the start menu or single click an item on the desktop my speaker produces a single beep. I had event sounds for Menu Command and Menu Pop-up (this beep wasn't assigned.) but have removed the sound just for testing. I don't even have this sound anywhere in my sounds folder.
A-Z360 Amp Has A DAT Input.
Apr 1, 2009Could I plug a s/pdif coaxial into the DAT input from my soundcards s/pdif coaxial out? The amp has an optical in toslink also but the onboard sound from my motherboard only has a s/pdif coaxial out. It's a digital amplifier even tho it's an old amp. It's in great condition and sounds just as good as it looks for it's age. I think it would do a better job than the onboard sound if i passed it through to the amp to deal with.
No Video Input
Sep 22, 2009Yesterday i downloaded the new drivers(9.9 DD and CCC) for my radeon hd 4870x2 and before installing i decided to uninstall the existing ones. Through the wizard I selected uninstall then quick option. It required a restart but I manually restarted later and noticed that the monitor is not displaying anything after windows boot up is complete.(BIOS and windows loading bar is displayed properly) How can i get the image on my monitor?
X-Fi No Headphone Setting: Shows It As A Speaker Icon And Not Headphones
Dec 23, 2007Ive recently installed vista ultimate 64 and previously in xp i could set the speaker setup to be headphones in the sound options, however in vista there is no selection and its setup as just speakers. Ive set in x-fi modes and console etc to be headphones so everything is fine then but im slightly miffed as to why its saying speakers in the control panel -> sound section in windows not the x-fi. It also shows it as a speaker icon and not headphones so i dont know if this is conflicting.
